The company behind the platform
Axisops Ltd specialises in platform infrastructure for businesses that can't afford downtime. Based in Eastbourne, we've built and managed production systems across fintech, regulated industries and high-availability environments. Microcelium is the distillation of that experience — the platform layer we wished existed when we started.
Microcelium didn't start as a product
It started as an internal stack. Fifteen years in, we'd rebuilt the same platform pieces — auth, observability, CI/CD, providers — so many times for so many clients that rewriting them for the next engagement had stopped making sense. Microcelium is what happens when you stop reinventing the wheel and start reusing it.
2016 · micro-glue
We build our own infrastructure platform: one set of tooling across AWS, Azure and on-prem. Same deployments, same reliability, zero cloud lock-in.
2019 · Full-stack observability
Monitoring and tracing built in-house — what became the Medusa stack. Every request traced, every metric captured, every alert meaningful.
2020 · Project Andromeda
We stop rebuilding the platform layer from scratch for every client. Andromeda is the internal codename for the software-component framework — the foundation of what becomes Microcelium.
Today · Microcelium
Twenty-five years of infrastructure engineering, distilled. Runs our own production — the £125M+ litigation-funding platform Axisops operates for 100+ law firms — and ships as the backbone our clients build on.
Micro + Mycelium = Microcelium
Micro for microservices, microcontrollers and the precision of distributed systems. Mycelium for the underground fungal network that binds entire forest ecosystems — a living substrate where many nodes route signals across the whole.
What we believe
Honest architecture
We name real technologies, not categories. If we use RabbitMQ, we say RabbitMQ. If Docker Compose is the right choice over Kubernetes, we explain why.
No lock-in. We mean it.
Vendor agnostic isn't a marketing claim. We provide reference AWS and Azure architectures so clients can leave whenever they choose. Exit strategy is a feature.
Compliance isn't a checkbox
Microcelium is delivered by Axisops Ltd, which holds ISO 27001 certification (UKAS verified). Continuous compliance is built into the platform: audit trails, access controls and monitoring are native, not bolted on.

Microcelium powers a £125M+ litigation-funding platform Axisops operates ourselves for 100+ law firms. We find the bugs before clients do — the platform is battle-hardened by our own operations team, not a beta tier we push to customers.
